Prominent lawyer and former attorney general Barrister Rafique-ul Haque has been laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard in Dhaka.
His burial took place around 3pm following a namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer).
The veteran lawyer breathed his last around 8:30am today while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Ad-Din Hospital in the capital’s Moghbazar.
He was suffering from various old-aged complications including anemia.
The deceased’s three namaz-e-janazas were held on the premises of Ad-Din Hospital, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and Supreme Court Bar Association.
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Barrister Rafique-ul Haque.
Barrister Rafique-ul Haque was the Attorney General from April 7, 1990 to December 17 of the same year.
During the caretaker government in 2007-2008, he lent legal support for top ranking political leaders.
