Prominent lawyer and former attorney general Barrister Rafique-ul Huq died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital’s Moghbazar. He was 85.
He breathed his last around 8:30am on Saturday at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Ad-Din Hospital.
Ad-Din Hospital’s director general Dr Nahid Yasmin confirmed the news to The Business Post.
Rafique-ul Huq was admitted to the hospital on October 15. He was kept on life support in the ICU since October 21 following deterioration in his health.
He was suffering from various old-aged complications including anemia, said Dr Nahid Yasmin.
Barrister Rafique-ul Huq was the Attorney General from April 7, 1990 to December 17 of the same year.
During the caretaker government in 2007-2008, he lent legal support for top ranking political leaders.
