The Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association on Thursday sought special arrangement for vehicles registration at Bangladesh Road Transport Authority during the lockdown to facilitate owners of the imported cars to use them.
The association asked the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to complete the registration procedure of the imported vehicles and issuing their specific number plates to ply on the roads, said a press release signed by the association secretary general Md Shahidul Islam’.
The buyers of new cars cannot ply their vehicles on roads as they are not allowed to register their vehicles and get number plates from the regulatory body BRTA during the lockdown, the release said.
The association also requested the regulator to run their limited activities like banks and other emergency services during the lockdown to register the newly released cars from ports.
The association thinks that the BRTA should start the special car registration service during the lockdown for the sake of car business, government revenue and public interest, it added.
