A teacher of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) lost his right hand in a road accident in Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh on Thursday night.
Hasan Morshed Ali, assistant professor of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, has been admitted to Labaid Hospital in the capital, said Phulpur police station Officer-in-Charge Abduallah Al Mamun.
The accident took place in the Bashati area around 8:00pm when a truck hit a Sherpur-bound bus of Adil Paribahan, he said.
Four other people were also injured in the accident.
Hasan Morshed dangled his right hand from the window and it was severed on the road due to the crash, the OC said.
Locals took him to Nakla Upazila Health Complex from where he was whisked off to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.
Later, he was shifted to the Dhaka hospital, the police official added.
