Bangladesh Bank has directed mobile financial service (MFS) providers to ensure adequate cash supply at the agent point for smooth disbursement of the government’s cash aid for the poor.

Payment Systems Department of the central bank issued a directive in this regard on Thursday.

The directive has been sent to managing directors and CEOs of all scheduled banks and all MFS providers, as well as the director general of the postal department.

The government will give 50 lakh families Tk2,500 each in cash aid to help them cope up with the ongoing coronavirus crisis. And the money will be sent to them through mobile banking channels.

To ensure this service, Bangladesh Bank has directed the MFS providers to ensure adequate cash supply at the agent point.
