B’baria road accident leaves 4 dead

Four passenger of a CNG run auto rickshaw have died after the vehicle collided head-on with a covered van in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria.

The accident took place on Comilla-Sylhet highway in Rampura area of the upazila around 6:45am on Wednesday.

The deceased are Morsheda, 50, Farid Mia, 42, Hosne Ara Khatun, 48, and Dudu Mia, 60.

Confirming the incident, Khantihata Highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shahjalal Alam said Morsheda and Dudu Mia died on the spot.

The injured were rushed to Brahmanbaria General Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared Hosne Ara dead. Farid Mia was referred to a hospital in Dhaka but he died on the way as well. The bodies have been kept in a morgue and will be soon handed over to the families, he added.

Police have seized the covered van but the driver managed to flee. A case will be filed in this regard soon, said the OC.
