Postal Service BCS Cadre officers have demanded batch-wise seniority-based promotions with financial benefits and batch-wise regular promotions in the coming days.
A notification, issued Tuesday and signed by the BCS (Postal) Association General Secretary KHM Iqbal Masud, made the call.
Claiming discrimination compared to other BCS cadres, a delegation of postal service officers met with the Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Md Mushfiqur Rahman on Monday.
Afterward, they met with the Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Adviser Nahid Islam. They presented their demands in these meetings.
Their other demand is to create departmental posts and other positions in all divisions of the postal department, similar to other government offices.
The notification highlighted the extreme discrimination faced by postal service officers. It stated that BCS (Postal) cadre officers are deprived of promotions and other benefits compared to other cadres.
While promotion from 9th grade to 5th grade in other cadre services takes 10 to 11 years, it takes more than 20 years to get the same promotion in the BCS Postal Cadre. Due to this disparity in promotion, officers at all levels of the BCS (Postal) Cadre are facing extreme financial and social discrimination, it read.
Discussions have been held on these issues at various times, but the problems have not been resolved. As a result, there is extreme frustration among postal service officers. Now, in a new, discrimination-free Bangladesh, they want their demands to be met.
