The Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) organised the inauguration ceremony of the international scientific conference -- BCSIR Congress 2023 -- to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the council and to continue the progress of Bangladesh in scientific research.

The conference held at BCSIR’s Dhanmondi Campus in Dhaka on Friday, according to a press release.

Apart from Bangladesh, thousands of researchers from more than 30 countries will present their research work in this scientific conference.

Dr Yoshinori Oshumi, who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology in 2016, shared his opinion and experiences online. He said if young scientists want to do something for the country or world, they can achieve it through research.

Yoshinori further emphasised applying the acquired knowledge through research.

Health minister Prof Dr Samanta Lal Sen emphasised the crucial role of science in building a 'Smart Bangladesh' under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He urged Bangladeshi scientists to contribute more to scientific research.

He also added, “This conference will exchange knowledge among various eminent scientists and researchers and foster connections among research institutions from different countries.”

The event was also graced by the Minister of Science and Technology Architect Yeafesh Osman as the chief patron. He stressed the importance of utilising the intellect of all scientists, researchers, and innovators to elevate Bangladesh's well-being and global stature.

BCSIR Chairman Dr Md Aftab Ali Shaikh expressed gratitude and conveyed best wishes to all attendees, underscoring the council’s commitment to advancing science in Bangladesh and facilitating the growth of young scientists through interactions with foreign counterparts.
