The Bangladeshi students, who are studying in the United States of America, said they will act as observers until the completion of the reformation of the country’s all the sectors. They also vowed that they would take the street again for nation-building activities in the future if needed. They said that they fought for a better Bangladesh which was on the brink of ruin.

The students will also meet with the chief Adviser of the interim government Dr Muhammad Younus after he arrives in the USA. They will submit a proposal for necessary reformation and ensure punishment of those people who were involved in the killing of the students and the mass people during the anti-discrimination movement which later turned into the anti-Hasina movement.

The students under the banner Bangladeshi Student and Alumni Association arranged a press conference at Jackson Heights in New York on September 22.

The students urged the interim government of Bangladesh to reform all the sectors to make the country an ideal one.

They said that all the institutions of the country have been tarnished their images as the immediate past government led by the Awami League misused power and laundering huge amounts of money to other countries.

They said corruption spread like an epidemic and all the system of the government institutions became fragile. Unfortunately, the country’s people have to come to Dhaka even for a silly matter. So, there is no alternative way but decentralization. Urbanisation should be following the proper plan.

Yousuf Ali, a student of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, read the paper in the press conference in which he demanded punishment for those who killed the people during the recent mass uprising in Bangladesh. The government must take immediate initiative to bring back the killers who fled the country.

The government must provide handsome financial support to the victims’ families and better treatment to the injured people.

Ahsanujjaman Tanvir, a university student, told The Business Post that they are observing the reformation process and hoped everything will go well.

“We are ready to do everything in the interest of the country’s overall reformation and development. A good number of students sacrificed their lives for the sake of a democratic society. So, no fascism will be allowed in future,” he said.
