Eleven people, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, have been accused in a murder case filed over the death of BDR deputy assistant director (DAD) Bir Muktijoddha Abdur Rahim.

Rahim, who was an accused in a case filed in connection with the 2009 Pilkhana BDR Mutiny, died in prison.

Advocate Abdul Aziz, son of deceased Rahim, filed the case on Sunday in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Hakim Md Akhtaruzzaman, accusing 11 people including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former BGB director general and former Army chief Brigadier General Aziz Ahmed and Pilkhana mutiny case lawyer Mosharf Hossain Kajal.

Confirming the matter, plaintiff's lawyer Delwar Hossain said a hearing on the case will take place on Sunday afternoon.

The other accused in the case are former inspector general of prisons Brigadier General Md Ashraful Islam Khan, mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas, ex-lawmaker Sheikh Salim, Noor Alam Chowdhury Liton, Sheikh Helal, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Mirza Azam and Hasanul Haque Inu.

Besides, the central jail superintendent and jail doctors who were on duty in July 2010 have also been accused, along with another 200 unnamed people.

Case plaintiff advocate Abdul Aziz mentioned in the case documents that the Bangladesh Awami League, along with 14-party alliance chief Sheikh Hasina's fascist government on February 25 and 26, 2009, hired foreign agents in a well-planned manner at the then BDR headquarters in Pilkhana and orchestrated the killing of 74 people including 57 army officers.

Later, a murder case was filed at Chowkbazar police station in connection with the BDR mutiny.

The plaintiff alleged that his father Abdur Rahim, a brave freedom fighter, was working in Pilkhana as the deputy assistant director, and was  arrested as an accused in the BDR mutiny case.
