The BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists has demanded the immediate formation of the 10th Wage Board and implementation of the Ninth Wage Board award.
In a statement issued Wednesday, BFUJ President Omar Faruque and its acting secretary general Amit Roy said, “The ninth wage board was formed nearly five years ago but its recommendations have not been executed so far.
“So, formation of a new wage board is the demand of time and also important to execute the ninth one.”
The release added, “The livelihood of the journalists has fallen into an unpleasant situation, and that’s why the government should take into account the legitimate demand of the journalists for the formation of 10th wage board.”
Leaders of the BFUJ, the apex body of the country’s journalist community, strongly demanded the passing of the Mass Media Employees Act (services and conditions) quickly with all possible amendments.
