The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) discovered an insurgent hideout in Dopanichhara, a remote border area of Bandarban, during an operation on Friday. Weapons, ammunition, drones, and signal jammers were recovered from the site.

Shariful Islam, public relations officer (PRO) at BGB Headquarters, confirmed the discovery.

He stated that, based on intelligence reports, it was revealed that a group of insurgents had established a hideout in the dense forests near Dopanichhara in Ruma Upazila, Bandarban.

In response, a special anti-terrorism operation was launched in the remote hilly region, approximately five and a half kilometres southeast of the border area. The operation was led by Lieutenant Colonel Hasibul Haque, commander of the Ruma Battalion (9 BGB), according to Shariful Islam.

During the raid, authorities recovered two automatic carbine assault rifles, one semi-automatic assault rifle, three SBBL (single-barrel break-action) firearms, 21 rounds of live ammunition, a state-of-the-art drone, an advanced signal jammer, an audio-video recorder, a video camera, a high-tech intelligence button camera, a key-device hidden video recorder, binoculars, two walkie-talkies, a laptop, two powerful lights, a solar system, a Sky TV receiver, an umbrella, two Android mobile phones, two button mobile phones, various local sharp weapons, Bengali liquor, a helmet, cooking essentials, and other supplies from the insurgent hideout, Shariful Islam said.

Additionally, observation posts, trenches, a temporary armoury, resting areas, and a cookhouse were found at the location. The BGB official stated that the hideout and all associated facilities were completely destroyed.
