BGMEA celebrates glorious 50 years of Bangladesh

Unending is the delight and limitless is the pride for the people of Bangladesh as the country rises from a ‘basket case’ to a ‘development surprise’ in an eventful journey of 50 years.

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) organized a colourful program in a hotel in Dhaka with enthusiastic participation of different stakeholders including government minister, leaders of BGMEA, RMG entrepreneurs, economists, development partners, journalists and others, a press release said on Tuesday. 

BGMEA has published a special edition of its magazine The Apparel Story, commemorating the 50 years of Bangladesh and 40 years of BGMEA.

Commence Minister & former president of BGMEA Tipu Munshi and Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and past president of BGMEA Md Atiqul Islam joined the grand celebration.

BGMEA Vice Presidents and Directors, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh ITO Naoki, Executive Director of Policy Research Institute (PRI) Dr Ahsan H Mansur and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bangladesh Mahbub Ur Rahman were present at the event.

Former presidents of BGMEA Redwan Ahmed, Mostafa Golam Quddus, Quazi Moniruzzaman, SM Fazlul Hoque, Anwar-Ul-Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), Abdus Salam Murshedy, and Md Siddiqur Rahman also attended the event among others.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan presided over the event while BGMEA Directors Barrister Shehrin Salam Oishee and Md Mohiuddin Rubel conducted the program.
