A French movie 'The Last Mercenary' directed by David Charon and released on Netflix on 30th July 2021 has drawn the attention of BGMEA as the movie contains disrespectful and derogatory comments on 'Made in Bangladesh' garments.
"It hurts our feelings and pride as in one scene, the main character 'the Mist' makes a negative comment about our made in Bangladesh tag," said BGMEA in a press release on Monday.
BGMEA has sent a letter to the CEO of Netflix expressing protest and demanding removal of the dialogue or scene from the movie and halt on streaming the movie until expunging of the dialogue or scene.
"We have also sent letters to the Director of the movie, the Secretaries of the foreign ministry and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Bangladesh, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to France, the Ambassador of Bangladesh in Washington and the US Ambassador to Bangladesh informing them the issue and seeking their cooperation in this regard," read the release.
