BGMEA to work with BRAC to prevent harassment in RMG factories

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) will work with BRAC Social Compliance programme to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for the workers in garment factories. 

In this regard, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between BGMEA and BRAC on Saturday, said a press release.

Under the agreement, the two organisations will jointly aim to improve the awareness level of the factory managers and workers of preventing, reporting and taking actions against gender-based violence and workplace harassment in the factories.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan and BRAC Resource Mobilisation and Learning Programme Development Director AFM Shahidur Rahman signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

BGMEA Vice President Miran Ali, BRAC Social Compliance and Safeguarding Director SK Jenefa Jabbar, BRAC Social Compliance and Safeguarding Deputy Manager Karishma Mahfuz, BRAC Social Compliance Senior Trainer Nur Jaman, and BRAC Social Compliance Senior Developer Afsana Sultana were also present at the signing ceremony.
