The National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 has suggested reducing the isolation period for the virus infected patients to 10 days from 14 after showing symptoms.

The committee made the fresh recommendation following its 53rd meeting held on Tuesday night.

Besides, individuals who come in contact with the patients with developing no symptoms do not need to be quarantined, but they must wear a ‘tight mask’, it said in a press statement.

The NTAC also suggested that the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) increase surveillance in all ports of entry, including airports, to ensure proper health guidelines issued by the government.

The advisory committee recommended ensuring emergency treatment of all Covid and non-Covid patients at the government hospitals round the clock.

The committee suggested that the government distribute masks among the people free of cost. It also suggested raising awareness of wearing masks properly and following other health rules.
