State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali has said Biman Bangladesh Airlines will launch its new route to Japan as soon as the East Asian country withdraws its Covid-19 restrictions.

Besides, flight routes to Chennai of India and Male of Maldives will be started very soon, the minister said to the media while visiting the Biman hanger gate and GEC department at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Wednesday.

“Biman has also been permitted to operate to Kunming and Guangzhou routes of China. Guangzhou is one of the best destinations for Bangladeshi businessmen,” he added.

The minister also said that the two Boeing aircrafts of Biman collided with each other due to the negligence of officials. “ The investigating committee is looking into it.”

On July 5, two Biman aircrafts collided at a hangar at HSIA, causing damage to the wings of the aeroplanes. Later, Biman suspended four of its officials.
