Around 20,000 police personnel have been deployed in Dhaka to ensure the safety of the people and their properties centring the BNP rally, Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) chief Harun-or-Rashid said on Saturday.
While talking to the media, he said there were no reports of untoward incidents in the capital as yet.
The DB chief said that BNP has been granted permission to hold their rally at Golapbagh ground. “We have beefed up security there. Hopefully, there will be no trouble.”
Police still cordoned off the road stretching from Nightingale to Fakirapool intersection where the people are not allowed to enter. The BNP office situated in the area is also under lock and key.
Harun said due to security reasons, they are keeping traffic diversions in the area.
