Bodies of 2 Bangladeshis at Sylhet no-man’s-land recovered

The bodies of two Bangladeshis shot dead allegedly by Indian Border Security force (BSF) along Dona border in Kanaighat upazila of Sylhet were handed to BGB on Friday.

This was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge of Kanaighat police station Tajul Islam.

Earlier, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and BSF jointly recovered the bodies after discussion and those were handed over to BGB later, said the OC.

Locals found the bodies of Askar Ali, 25, and Arif Hossain, 22, of Elagul village, lying at no-man’s-land along Bangladesh-India border on Wednesday.

According to family sources, the two youths left home on Tuesday and remained missing since.

Locals said BSF fired at them at Laltia border while illegally entering India and left their bodies near the demarcation pillar 1331 of the border.

Police suspect that two of them were shot dead Tuesday night or early Wednesday by BSF or Khashia community during an illegal entry attempt.
