Bodies of four members of the same family have been recovered from a house in Madhupur upazila of Tangail.
Locals found the body at the house in Master Para area of Palli Bidyut Road area of the upazila around 9 am on Friday, confirmed the district's Superintendent of Police Sanjit Kumar Roy to the Business Post.
"An axe was found there," he said, adding, it is thought to have been used in the killings.
The deceased were identified as Gani Mia of Master Para, his wife, their college student son and nine-year-old daughter.
"It is believed that the miscreants cut their throats and killed them 2-3 days ago," said Tariq Kamal, officer-in-charge of Madhupur Police Station.
CID's crime scene members have cordoned off the house. Details will be announced later, according to the CID sources.
