University Grants Commission (UGC) Member Prof Dr Muhammed Alamgir said Bangladesh’s victory in the 1971 Liberation War did not come easy, instead it was achieved through a lot of heart-wrenching moments and tragic historical events.

He added, “Bangladesh's independence was a result of a lot of sacrifices. Father of the Nation and the greatest Bengali of all time Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the hero who made it possible.

“Boosting the education system is the key to developing Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh further. So, everyone needs to work for the welfare of the country.”

He made the remarks as the chief guest of a discussion organised on the occasion of “The Victory Day 2022,” under the initiative of University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) on Thursday afternoon at the institution's own campus in the capital’s Baridhara.

UITS Vice-Chancellor (Acting) Professor Md Abu Hashan Bhuiyan presided over the discussion meeting.

UITS Professor Dr Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Law Faculty Dean Advocate Md Abdul Mannan Bhuyean, Registrar Mohammed Kamrul Hasan, Science and Engineering Faculty Dean Md Mazharul Haque, and Business Faculty Dean Mohammad Shahidul Islam also were present among others.
