A 14-year-old boy drowned in the Garai River after being hit by a train while taking a selfie on Kumarkhali rail bridge in Kushtia on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sami Hossain, a class seven student of MN High School and son of Harun of Elengipara in Kumarkhali upazila.
Quamruzzaman Talukdar, officer-in-charge of Kumarkhali police station, said that Sami and his three friends went to the rail bridge around 5:00pm for taking selfies.
Sami fell into the driver as the train hit him while his friends escaped unhurt, the OC said.
On information, divers from the Khulna fire service rushed to the spot and recovered the body around 10:00pm.
