Bangladesh Railway (BR) will start selling advance tickets online for intercity trains from June 14 ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.
The Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan disclosed the information at a press conference on Tuesday.
“Advance tickets will be released online in two parts. The western region will sell tickets online from 8am and in the eastern region will start at noon,” the minister said.
“Advance tickets for June 24 will be available on June 14 and tickets for June 28 will be available on June 18.”
“BR will launch a new train on the Dhaka-Chilahati route on June 4 which will be inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” Sujan added, “BR will also run a total of eight special trains during the Eid rush.”
The advance return tickets will be sold from June 22. Tickets for July 2 will be available on that day and return tickets can be purchased until June 26. Tickets for July 6 will be sold on the last day.
This time it has been decided to sell train tickets in advance 10 days before Eid. Earlier, tickets were given in advance 5 days before Eid. However, advance tickets for Eid journey cannot be refunded.
