Showers are likely to drench most parts of the country in the next 24 hours, the weather office said on Friday morning.

“Light to moderate rains or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes are likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy falls at isolated places over the country,” the department said in its weather bulletin.

The low-pressure area over the west-central Bay and the adjoining Andhra coast now lies over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country during this period.

At the end of the next 72 hours, rainfall activity may increase, it said.

The axis of the monsoon trough is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay.
