A die hard fan of Brazil tried to commit suicide in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday after Brazil lost to Argentina in the Copa America final.
Md Kamal, 20, son of Amir Hossain of Uttar Chakmarkul village in Ramu upazila, consumed poison after the match and was taken to Ramu Upazila Health Complex.
“After giving first aid at the health facility, he was referred to Cox's Bazar General Hospital for better treatment,” said Dr Efazul Haq of the health complex.
Locals said Kamal became very upset after the defeat of his favourite team and at one stage he took poison.
Argentina ended their 28-year wait for a major trophy after beating Brazil 1-0 in the Copa America final on Saturday.
