Broadband internet services were restored around 2pm on Monday after around two hours of suspension.

People got disconnected online from the rest of the world as the broadband internet was blocked at around 10:15am. Later the services were restored around 2pm.

Internet Services Providers' Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) President Emdadul Haque told UNB over mobile phone that they weren't getting broadband internet from the international gateway from 10:30am.

Replying to a question, he said that they don't know when the broadband internet services will be restored.

Earlier on Sunday afternoon, the government shut down mobile internet services and restricted access to Meta platforms - Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram.

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission issued the directive to shut down the mobile internet announcing that the 4G network will remain halted until further notice and only 2G services will be available for making calls.

Earlier broadband internet services remained blocked for six days since July 19 amid the students’s quota movement and access to social media platforms was blocked.
