The Indian Border Security Force shot a Bangladesh citizen to death at Ajmatpur border in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj in the early hours of Wednesday.
The deceased is Ibrahim Ali, 25, son of Abu Taher, a resident of Ajmatpur Dhulipara under Shahbazpur union of the upazila.
Shariful Islam, cousin of the deceased, said, “Ibrahim went to the border area last night without informing anyone and we came to know about his death in the morning.”
Shahbazpur Union Parishad Chairman Tozammel Haq said the incident occurred around 2:30am and BSF personnel took away the body.
Border Guard Bangladesh Battalion-59 Commanding Officer Lt Col Amir Hossain Mollah said they were trying to contact BSF over the matter.
