Dr Mustafa Zaman, a cardiologist of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) who treated war crimes convict and Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, filed a general diary (GD) at Dhandmondi police station on Tuesday seeking security after ‘receiving death threat’.

Md Parvez Islam, officer-in-charge of Dhandmondi police station, said that the physician lodged the GD as saying that he received a death threat on Facebook messenger.

The OC said they are looking into the matter.

According to the GD, Sayeedi was admitted to the BSMMU on August 13.

He breathed his last while undergoing treatment under the supervision of Prof Chowdhury Meshkat Ahmed, chairman of the cardiology department of the BSMMU, around 8: 40pm on August 14, it reads.

As one of the members of the specialist team of the hospital, he performed his duty as a physician but some people from different IDs were spreading propaganda on social media alleging wrong treatment and threatening him to kill.

The physician told the media that said doctors at the hospital give equal treatment to all and Sayeedi was also given proper treatment.

The wrong perception of people and the propaganda against him will end, he hoped.
