Dr Gazi Zahirul Hasan, a professor at the paediatric surgery department of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU), died from coronavirus early Friday while undergoing treatment at the incentive care unit (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Foundation for Doctors Safety Rights and Responsibilities (FDSR) Joint Secretary Dr Rahat Anwar Chowdhury confirmed the matter to the press.
Gazi was a student of 17th batch at Mymensingh Medical College, said Rahat.
Dr Nirupam Das, chief administrator of the Bangladesh Doctors Foundation (BDF), said 28 doctors have so far died from coronavirus while five more died of the Covid-19 like symptoms.
