Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) is continuing its utmost effort to keep the flow of imports normal during the coronavirus pandemic, said a press release issued on Saturday.
Besides, the organisation is collecting samples as usual, submitting them and is issuing clearance certificates despite the nationwide shutdown.
In particular, the work of issuing clearance for imported goods is going on faster than usual.
BSTI is issuing clearances in favor of imported compulsory goods in the shortest possible time to keep imports normal and reduce container clutter at ports, the release said.
BSTI offices located in the port areas are also issuing certificates in a quick manner. Services are being provided by the government body by giving priority to imported goods.
From last Sunday to Thursday, 141 samples were submitted to BSTI. 26 clearances were issued at the same time. Of those, 59 samples were been submitted and 16 clearances were issued from Chattogram office of BSTI.
