Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has started the process of closing unregistered news portals on a court order.
The process started on Tuesday afternoon, said Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar.
BTRC has made a list of unregistered news portals as per court direction, the minister said.
If any news portal is mistakenly shut down during this process, it can contact BTRC and provide proof of registration, he added.
Earlier on September 14, the High Court ordered the closure of all unregistered online news portals and asked the BTRC and Bangladesh Press Council to take action in this regard within a week.
