The students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) have expressed solidarity with the ongoing movement demanding reform in the quota system in government jobs.

A total of 120 to 140 Buet students came together in front of Buet Shaheed Minar and formed a human chain around 12:30pm on Tuesday.

They issued a press statement regarding the anti-quota movement.

"The 30 per cent Freedom Fighter quota was reasonable once as the freedom fighters went through a very difficult situation during and post-war period. But their successors did not face the same hardship. So it is important to reform the quota system considering the situation," the release reads.

"Again, the 10 per cent quota for women is very disgraceful for women. So this quota system should be reformed," the release adds.
