Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin today urged all to work together to materialize the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for building the country as “Sobuj Bangla”.

"Bangabandhu started planting trees across the country to turn Bangladesh into a green Bengal. The present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken various steps to fulfill her father's dream," he said.

He was talking to the newsmen after paying homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi No. 32 on behalf of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change marking the 46th Martyrdom Anniversary of Bangabandhu and National Mourning Day, said an official release.

With the cooperation of all citizens, irrespective of party affiliation, Bangladesh will be turned into a green Bengal as dreamt by the father of the nation, he added.

Later, the minister also planted a sapling of a tree on the premises of the forest building at Agargaon in the capital.

Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Md Mostafa Kamal and senior officials of the ministry and different departments were present on the occasion.

He also paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing a wreath at his portrait at the Forest Department in the city.
