Bus hits HSIA's 3rd terminal boundary wall, engineer killed

A bus broke the boundary wall of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital on Friday morning.

A senior sub-assistant engineer in Civil Aviation was killed in this incident. The deceased's name is Maidul Islam Siddiqui.

Airport Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sumon Chandra Das said that around 10am, a bus of Raida Paribahan lost control and broke through the security wall of the third terminal and entered inside.

At that time, Engineer Maidul was riding a motorcycle on the road. He was seriously injured when his motorcycle was crushed by the bus, he added.

He was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said this officer.

Airport Police Station Officer In-charge (OC) Yasir Arafat Khan told The Business Post that the bus driver and helper fled the scene after the incident. But the bus has been seized and legal proceedings in this regard are ongoing.
