Students are carrying out a “Complete Shutdown” programme across the country on Thursday, demanding justice for those who were attacked, punishment for those involved in the attack, terror-free campuses, and quota reform for government jobs.

Amidst this programme, buses are running in limited capacity on different roads in the capital. There are however very few private cars plying on the roads.

On Thursday morning, people who left home on urgent needs were seen standing on the road waiting for buses. The presence of law enforcement personnel at different areas of the capital was noticeable.

Meanwhile, the Metrorail is running as usual even amid the shutdown programme. Trains are leaving as per schedule from the morning, but the number of passengers on board are significantly less compared to regular days.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) - managing company of Metrorail - had announced that their services would run as usual despite the shutdown programme.

A similar announcement was made by the Bangladesh Road Transport and Owners Association.
