Bus owners to accept half fares from students in all metropolises

Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association has announced to take half bus fare from students in all metros including Chattogram from Saturday.

The announcement was made by Khandaker Enayet Ullah, secretary-general of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association Central Committee, at a press conference at Chattogram Press Club's on Sunday.

In a press conference, he said that the 'half' fare for students in Chattogram would be effective from December 11. Students will also get this facility in other cities like Chattogram where city service is available.

Half fare will not be applicable for holidays of educational institutions or public holidays, he said.

He also said half fare will not be charged in any other district or upazila levels of the country except metropolis or long-distance bus where there is no city service, he added.

Enayet said students will be able to pay half the bus fare from 7 am to 8 pm. However, they have to keep an Identity card with the photographs given by the educational institution. 

Kafil Uddin Ahmed, senior co-president of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association, Khorshed Alam, president of Chittagong Road Transport Owners Group, Niaz Morshed Elite, joint secretary of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association-Dhaka, Golam Rasul Babul, secretary-general of Chittagong Road Transport Owners Group were present at the press conference.
