Bus-train collide at Malibagh

Panchgar-bound Drutojan Express on Wednesday hit a Shohagh Paribahan bus at Malibagh Rail crossing, causing it to suspend Dhaka’s rail connection with the rest of the country.

According to witnesses, the gatemen forgot to close the boom gate at Malibagh rail crossing.

Meanwhile, the bus got on the rail. Later the train which was pacing slowly hit the bus on the back.

No one was injured in the collision as there were no passengers on the bus at the time, Syedpur, Railway Police assistant sub-inspector and in charge of Drutojaan's security Aminul Islam said.

A Kamalapur-bound commuter train from Gazipur got stuck at the opposite line due to the incident as a result, train services between Dhaka and the rest of the country have been suspended.
