Bus-truck collision in Rangpur leaves 2 dead, five injured

Two people were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on the busy Dhaka-Rangpur Highway on Friday morning.

The accident occurred around 10:30am near a fuel refilling station on the high-speed corridor in the Shathibari area of Rangpur's Mithapukur upazila.

"The Rangpur-bound bus, named 'Mayer Doa Paribahan', crashed into the potato-laden truck heading towards Dhaka at high speed, leaving two dead on the spot," said Shahjahan Ali, officer-in-charge of Baradarga highway police station.

One of the deceased was the truck driver and another was a male passenger of the bus but their identities could not be known immediately. The bodies have been kept at the police station, he added.

"The injured have been admitted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital," said the police officer.
