Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested four persons including one of the "masterminds" behind torching and vandalising buses during protests following the death of a student in Dhaka's Rampura last month.

They were arrested during raids in Rampura and Cumilla on Tuesday night, said RAB's Legal and Media Wing Assistant Director ANM Imran Khan on Wednesday. One of the arrestees, Monir Hossain, is the mastermind of the vandalism, he also claimed.

RAB will hold a press conference later in the day, he added.

On November 29, Mainuddin Islam Durjoy, an SSC examinee, was run over by a bus around 10:45 pm in the Rampura Bazaar area near Better Life Hospital.

Mainuddin’s death triggered violence, leading to the torching of as many as eight buses by an angry mob.
