The government has decided to allow limited operation of public transport, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said on Wednesday (May 27).
“The prime Minister informed about the decision at night,” he said, adding that a gazette notification will be published on Thursday (May 28).
Public transports – buses, trains and vessels – will have to maintain health guidelines, Hossain said.
“The district administration will ensure that health rules are being followed,” he said.
Public transports were shut after the government announced general holidays from March 26 to contain the transmission of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the government has also decided not to extend the ongoing general holidays and will allow reopening of public, private and autonomous offices from May 31 to June 15 on a limited scale.
It also permitted markets and shops to remain open from 10 am to 4 pm on condition that they follow health rules.
But educational institutions will remain closed during this period.
