The Business Post’s senior reporter Mehedi Al Amin wins “Farming Future Bangladesh Media Fellowship Award 2021” provided by The Alliance for Science, a US based global shaper in agricultural innovations, under the best reporting category.

The Business Post’s senior reporter Mehedi Al Amin has won “Farming Future Bangladesh Media Fellowship Award 2021” provided by The Alliance for Science, a US based global shaper in agricultural innovations, under the best reporting category.

The media fellowship was awarded at Azizur Rahman Hall at The Daily Star Centre in Dhaka on Tuesday, hosted by Farming Future Bangladesh (FFB), a Bill & Melinda Gates supported organisation.

Mehedi Al Amin won the best reporting award for playing his role in covering articles on the various crises in agriculture, maternal and child malnutrition and food habits in the poverty-stricken regions.

Six fellows from different national dailies based on Dhaka participated in the fellowship programme.

Apart from Al Amin, Abbas Uddin from The Business Standard, ANM Mohibub Uz Zaman from The Daily Sun, Al Amin from The New Nation and Shah Muhammad Nazmus Sakib from The Financial Express also received this year’s fellowship, among others.

All the fellows were rewarded with crest and certificate.

Anwar Faruque, former secretary of the agriculture ministry and chief guest of the event said, “Prestigious media fellowships can inspire journalists across Bangladesh to report unbiased stories.”

Dr Khalilur Rahman, Director of Bangladesh National Nutrition Council (BNNC) and Md Shahjahan Ali Biswas, Director of Agricultural Information Service (AIS) were present as special guest in the programme presided by CEO and Executive Director of FFB Md Arif Hossain.

“Journalists show us the blueprint of the national agriculture, alert us about the food and nutrition status. The media fellowship is a way to recognise their contribution” Arif Hossain said.

Shahanuare Shaid Shahin, general secretary of Bangladesh Agricultural Journalist Forum (BAJF) presented the keynote paper at the function.
