The Business Post Senior Reporter Solamain Salman has been elected organising secretary of the Reporters Against Corruption (RAC), a platform for Dhaka-based journalists covering corruption-related reports.

Ahammad Foyez of New Age and Jemson Mahbub of Ekattor TV have been elected president and general secretary respectively in the election.

The platform got the Executive Committee-2023 for one-year tenure by holding an election at a restaurant at Segunbagicha in the city on Friday.

Other elected office bearers are — vice-presidents Abul Kashem (Bank Bima Arthonity) and Rafikuzzman (Nabaraj), joint secretaries Shafi Uddin Ahmed (Asian TV), Mahbub Saykat (My TV), and Hasib Bin Shahid (Kaler Kantho), Treasurer Taslimul Alam Towhid (News24 TV), Office Secretary Syed Riad, Publicity Secretary Atika Rahman (Rtv), Training and Research Secretary Maruf Kibria (Ajker Potrika), Welfare Secretary Bashir Hossain Khan, and Sports and Cultural Affairs Secretary Ali Talukder (News24 TV).

Besides, Saif Bablu (Sangbad), Morshed Noman (Dainik Bangla), Rishad Huda (Independent TV), Tabarul Haque (Dainik Amader Shomoy), Shafik Shaheen (ntv), Rashim Mollah (Manab Zamin), and Tariquel Islam Sumon (Barta24) have been elected executive members of the new committee.

Election Commission chief Shahidul Islam along with two election commissioners — Aktar Hossain and Mursalin Nomani — conducted the polls and announced its results.

Earlier in the day, the annual general meeting (AGM) of the RAC was held at the restaurant with outgoing president Mohi Uddin in the chair.
