Police found bodies of a trader and a former Bank official in two districts on Monday.
In Chattogram, a businessman was found dead in his under-construction building at Jalalabad in Khulshi area.
The deceased was identified as Nezam Pasha, 65, son of Abdur Rashid of Fatikchhari upazila.
Mohammad Shahinuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Khulshi police station, said local people spotted the body of Nezam on the ground floor of the under-construction building and informed the matter to police.
Reaching the spot, the law enforcers sent it to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital.
The body bore several injury marks, said police.
Nezam remained missing since he went to the building area on Sunday for clearing the wages of the construction workers.
The victim’s family claimed that some extortionists demanded money from him and they also issued death threat.
In Barishal, police found the body of a retired bank official at a house in the town.
Deceased Saleha Begum, 67, was a principal officer of Sonali Bank.
According to police, Saleha Begum used to live on West Kaunia Hawladar Road in the town with her younger daughter Suchi, a service holder.
On Sunday night, Suchi, who was out of the town, phoned their neighbour as she couldn’t reach her mother over phone.
Their neighbour Helena went to Saleha’s house on Monday morning along with another person but did not get any response even after pressing the doorbell. Then, they peeped through the window and saw her lying on the floor.
Md Azimul Karim, officer-in-charge of Kaunia police station, said no injuries were found on her body. “It might be a natural death,” he said.
