Businessman Mahmud Ali dies of COVID-19

Industrialist Mahmud Ali Ratul, the owner of Chattogram’s JMS Group and also the vice-president of Noakhali district Awami League, died of coronavirus at the age of 60 on Thursday.

Amin Hossain, a member of the Bangladesh Awami Sechchhasebok League central committee and also a close confidant of Mahmud Ali, confirmed the death of Mahmud Ali to The Business Post.

Amin Hossain said that Mahmud Ali breathed his last at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Evercare Hospital in the capital around 11:00 pm.

“His namaj-e-janaza will be held at Jamiatul Falah Mosque in Chattogram on Friday,” said Amin Hossain.

Mahmud Ali was the vice-president of Hatia Upazila Awami League.

He tested COVID-19 positive on March 30 and has been receiving treatment at his home.

Later on, April 2, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital and the same day he was also shifted to the ICU of the hospital.
