The Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) on Friday apprehended a car driver of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) along with gold worth around Tk 82 lakh at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ziaul Haque of the Airport APBn said CAAB driver Salekuzzaman entered the terminal using Gate No 21 at the airport. He then collected gold bars and gold chains from the toilet of luggage belt number 1.
Due to his suspicious movement while crossing the customs green channel, APBn personnel challenged him.
During interrogation, Salekuzzaman confessed that he was carrying five gold bars and fifty gold chains weighing 823.52g, the APBn official said.
A case will be filed against the CAAB driver, he added.
