The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement has approved two purchase proposals worth 575.61 crore taka.
The procurement proposals were approved at a virtual meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement chaired by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday (August 19).
The meeting was attended by the members of Procurement Committee, Senior Secretaries of Cabinet Division, Secretaries of concerned Ministries and other senior officials.
After the meeting, finance minister disclosed the approved purchase proposals to journalists.
He said, among the approved purchase proposals, 1.5 lakh metric tonnes of fuel oil will be imported on a G-to-G (Government-to-Government) basis at a cost of 433.40 crore taka.
Additionally, for 2021 academic year, the government will procure 7.20 crore Bangla and English version books (3, 4 and 5 grade) with a cost of 132 crore taka.
Finance minister said the government would import a total of 150,000 tonnes of marine fuel (0.5% sulphur) for the period from July to December this year.
“Initially, 75,000 metric tons of fuel oil was to be imported through international tenders. However, as the price of fuel oil has come down in the international market, we have decided to import the entire 150,000 metric tons of marine oil on a G-to-G basis,” he added.
Furthermore, the minister said, the government has decided to distribute 7 crore 20 lakh 9 thousand 363 free Bengali and English versions of primary level (3rd, 4th and 5th grade) books for the 2021 academic year. The total expenditure of the government will be 132 crore 41 lakh 51 thousand 646 taka.
Different printers and suppliers in 96 lots will supply these books by participating in open tenders.
