Internet Service Providers (ISP) and cable operators will hold their services daily for 3 hours across the country from Sunday in protest of overhead cable removal by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) without alternative arrangements and advance notice or time.
MA Hakim, president of the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), told the media on Friday that their services will be halted for 3 hours every day from 10 am to 1 pm.
He added, “So far we have not had any discussion with DSCC. So, the issue has not been resolved.”
Earlier, at a press conference in National Press Club on October 12, ISPAB and Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh (COAB) gave an ultimatum to resolve the issue by October 18.
Due to coronavirus pandemic, people are now dependent on the internet, including online classes, exams, offices, virtual meetings, shopping.
Experts in the sector said if the issue is not resolved by tomorrow, millions of people will suffer due to spat between DSCC and the two service providers.
