A case has been filed against the suspended mayor of Gazipur City Corporation Jahangir Alam under the Digital Security Act, for insulting Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Dhaka Bar Council member Omar Faruk Asif filed the case with the court of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge Ash Shams Jaglul Hossain on Monday.
"The court after recording the testimony of the plaintiff, ordered Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the matter and file its report within January 6," Public Prosecutor Adv Nazrul Islam Shamim confirmed.
Bangladesh Awami League on November 19 expelled Jahangir from the party and the local government ministry on November 25 suspended Jahangir Alam as the mayor of Gazipur City Corporation.
