A case was filed on Tuesday at a Dhaka court against a doctor on charge of the death of Gulf Air pilot Mohannad Yousef Hassan Al Hindi due to alleged wrong treatment.

US citizen Tala Elhendy Josephano, sister of the victim, filed the case.

The court accepted the case and directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit a report after investigating the plaintiff's case statement.

The case was filed against Dr Omar Faruque, professor and chief consultant of the Department of Critical Care Medicine and Emergency Medicine at the United Hospital, according to the plaintiff's lawyer, Sabbir Ahmmed.

Yousef Hassan Al Hindi was scheduled to fly out of Dhaka on the morning of December 14, but suddenly collapsed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Following his illness, he was admitted to the United Hospital at 5am and died at around 12 noon.

The victim's sister alleged that her brother died at the hospital for wrong treatment and negligence of on-duty doctor.
