The Met Office has asked all seaports in the country to hoist local cautionary signal No. three due to low pressure over Gangetic West Bengal and the adjoining area.
Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and there is a possibility of rain all over the country, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in its daily forecast bulletin on Tuesday.
The forecast said the low pressure in the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas is currently located in Bihar and adjoining areas.
The North Bay and adjoining areas are now experiencing high air pressure variations and deep moving clouds are forming. Winds can blow over seaports, the Bay of Bengal and the coastal areas of adjoining Bangladesh.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Chattogram, Barishal, Khulna and Dhaka divisions and at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country.
Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been asked to stay near the coast and move cautiously till further notice.
Rainfall may increase in the next two days. The weather may change slightly in the middle of the week. In the last 24 hours, 44mm rainfall in Kutubdia, 36mm in Hatia and 34mm in Rajshahi were recorded.
